Yes, fake Flash attacks are running rampant right now. Beware of emails telling you to update your Flash software. The distinguishing characteristic of the new fake Flash attacks is that they come in e-mail disguised as news alerts for top 10 stories and top 10 videos from the CNN.com news site, or MSNBC.com. Of course the e-mails and malware have nothing to do with CNN or MSNBC. Clicking any of the links in the e-mails brings up a window that says you need to upgrade to latest version of the Flash player. The version they offer is in fact malware. Attempts to cancel the dialog box put the user in an endless loop of new windows pushing the same offer.
